Rosa Mercedez González
Rosa says….
I don’t know how my works are born, one thing leads to another; it is a never-ending path.
In my atelier, I have an ensemble of paints, threads, rag dolls, cardboard, tin, books, photography, embroideries, toys and old magazines with a life of their own..they plot, they hide and call me from hidden corners.
Words are always present in my work, sometimes just a wink, sometimes a distraction or to provoke and change the meaning. I love to confuse!
I also have my “Books of Prayer”, they are my journals where I record phrases that I hear around. I use my journals as a scrapbook of daily news. I cut and glue the quotidian and domestic.
I don’t divide/separate my daily life from my work. My atelier is my home.
The curtain rises, and the heart of an object stains a paper map decorated with invisible threads, sequins, and buttons. The game has started, but the play gets complicated, never the less the show must go on. It always goes on.
My home is my workshop
My workshop is my home.
